I have a couple friends that we talk all the time about how hard it is to get together. Yet how important to keep our friendship strong and healthy. That we just need to make sure we schedule something just once a month. And yet, why is it so hard to actually do?? But you’re right. It has to be intentional without waiting for perfect or making it something big. I’d love others ideas they have done? I love the idea of a hike. I think this is the reason book clubs are popular. It’s more about gathering with an idea to start the conversation.

I hear ya, Angie.

Couple things I think about:

1. They’re hard because we treat them (even though we don’t like to admit it) as nice-to-have, not must-have. When life gets busy, nice-to-haves get dropped (but must-haves don’t).

2. For me, it’s not real unless it’s on my calendar. Until it is, it’s a suggestion.

3. I always find it easier/better to have “something to do” than, “let’s hang out”. That way, there’s always the “thing” (the book, the movie, the trail) to talk about and keep us engaged in conversation.
