📣 The Two Paths of Opening a CrossFit Gym Today, GPS Cues, & More - with Max Isaak
Hello, friends!
We’re joined by CrossFit TILT co-owner Max Isaak this week for a coaching and gym ownership focused episode. We talk about coaching techniques in the world of CrossFit, discuss the balance between training and coaching, and the challenges of opening a CrossFit affiliate.
We also explore the dynamics of programming in EMOMs and Tabatas and the importance of preparation before launching into intense workouts.
From the intricacies of CrossFit coaching to the excitement of high-intensity workouts, we cover a wide range of topics that will provide valuable insights for both coaches and gym owners.
✨ Warmup Questions:
🏃🏽♂️ MOVE: We kick off with Randy's question about the use of Imams and Tabatas in CrossFit coaching. We discuss the balance between technique and intensity, and the benefits these time domains can bring to your workout routine.
🤔 THINK: Darren asks about juggling the roles of being a CrossFit coach and an athlete aiming to reach higher levels within the sport. We delve into the challenges and strategies for balancing coaching responsibilities with personal training goals.
🏋🏾♂️ Workout Topic:
We answer a question from Courtney, who’s asking about advice for someone looking to open a CrossFit affiliate in 2024. Here’s a bit of her question:
Many resources out there are from affiliate owners who started their gyms 10+ years ago.
Things are quite different now - there are lots of CrossFit gyms (and CrossFit-like gyms).
I don't think that means there isn't room for new gyms, but I'm curious maybe how you would approach opening a new gym in 2024 and what you would recommend to someone thinking about it.
