🤔 SOME THOUGHTS
The "Figure It Out" Mindset: Why Some People Always Find a Way
Every half-decent thing I've accomplished started the same way.
Whether launching an equipment company before CrossFit was cool, creating a podcast before everyone & their uncle had one, or writing a kid’s book, they all began with an idea, followed by a whole lot of questions.
But what separated these modest successes from the many unrealized dreams I’ve also had was a simple mindset: "I don’t know how, but I'll figure it out."
It’s one I’ve seen in a lot of the people I’ve come to admire.
They haven’t become who they are because they’re smarter, luckier, or have more resources. They simply refused to stop at "I don't know how."
Want to start that business? I'll figure it out.
Get back in shape? I'll figure it out.
Run for mayor, learn Spanish, start a nonprofit, raise chickens? I'll figure it out.
The opposite mindset, the more common one, the trap is to stop at "I don't know how." But that attitude keeps us in a perpetual waiting room. Waiting for perfect timing & perfect conditions. For the right person to show up & show us the way. For the world to slow down so we can catch up.
But that’s the error - the thinking we need to “catch up” before we begin.
We don’t. We need to jump in.
If we want to learn how to swim, we need to get into the water. We need to kick our feet & calm our breath & find our rhythm.
We’re not going to learn anything standing on the pool deck with a towel wrapped around our waists.
🙋🏽♀️ QUESTIONS
Do you have a question you'd like us to address in a future episode? We'd love to hear it!
Coming next week, we’ve got our friend Chris Irwin back on the show to talk to us about Fear. It’s a good one.
Until then, keep figuring it out & keep chasing.
