The Freedom of Diet Imperfection
Daily Chase #53
Perfection is the enemy of consistency.
When it comes to nutrition, many of us fall into the trap of believing we must follow our eating plans flawlessly to see results.
The moment we slip — perhaps indulging in dessert or missing our vegetable target — we declare the entire effort ruined.
This all-or-nothing mentality doesn't reflect reality. You are human, which means imperfect eating days are inevitable.
The real problem isn't the occasional indulgence but what happens afterward. That one deviation often triggers days or even weeks of abandoning healthy habits because we believe we've "failed."
Here's the liberating truth: what matters is showing up more days than you don't.
While that extra slice of pizza certainly counts calorically, the body is remarkably resilient. A single day of imperfect eating doesn't erase your progress — it's the three weeks "off plan" that follow which create setbacks.
When you embrace imperfection as part of the journey rather than evidence of failure, you gain the freedom to be consistent over the long term.
Consistency, not perfection, is what ultimately delivers results.
Your next imperfect eating day isn't a reason to quit. It's simply a reminder of your humanity and an opportunity to practice getting back on track.
